Geoff Dennis Bird Program

Friends of Jamestown Library present:  Common and Uncommon  Rhode Island Birds.

Geoff Dennis

Geoff Dennis began photographing birds in his yard as a hobby to document the uncommon bird he occasionally observed there.  His hobby led to where he began photographing for three manufacturers of bird feeders.  Geoff has observed over 180 species of birds in his yard, including RI’s first Rufous Hummingbird in 1995, a western hummingbird. He volunteers much of his spare time to the Nature Conservancy of RI for work with Piping Plovers and that led his discovery of RI’s first Snowy Plover last spring.  His work has used been used by The Nature Conservancy of RI, Audubon Society of RI, US Fish and Wildlife, and Cornell’s online Birds of North America.  He has also donated his work to other organizations, from The Lloyd Center in Dartmouth, MA to The Kennebunk Land Trust in Maine.  He lives in Little Compton, RI with his wife, Emily; he is a commercial fisherman.

Geoff’s talk will be on common and uncommon RI birds, many of which were photographed in his Little Compton yard.
